Selective Focus

The technique used in this image is a shoot through. It's where you shoot through your foreground and use a selective focus to highlight your subject. It's very well known and used by many of the top flower photographers. I love how it softly frames the main subject drawing attention to the sharp part of the image.

Window to the Past

This past Sunday Steve Fredrick and I visited one of my old haunts in Maryland. I also had a chance to visit Gilpin Falls Covered Bridge. It’s funny, I have been driving past this bridge for many years but never stopped too see what was around. What a treat I was missing!
This image of the old can in the window was processed to black and white with NIK’s Silver Effects Pro then using the history brush to paint the color back into the can.

Colors at Marsh Creek

Yesterday I met my friend Rick Pagliarulo and his daughter’s boyfriend Ben at Marsh Creek. Rick and Ben drove out from Philly to capture the sunrise. Not long after we had set up Michael Lawrence stopped in. I have to admit we were not disappointed. With just enough clouds on the horizon, it helped to diffuse and create a dramatic sunrise. This image shows the colors in both the sky and reflecting off the melting ice just before sunrise, which was amazing!
Afterward some of us headed to Longwood to do a bit more intimate shooting! As you can imagine Longwood was a bit crowded. My guess is the warm temperature brought people out of hibernation.

Downingtown Morning

The other day I stopped in at Roberts Honda in Downingtown to get a rear wiper blade for my Element. I don’t normally hit the dealer for parts but for some reason I couldn’t find this item at my regular auto parts stores. When I was leaving, I noticed ice on the creek and an old stone building in the background right next door. I wondered gee, how did I miss this. I thought I would come back in a little better light, so I scooted down there in the morning. I’m not sure if this was the best time of day, in fact, I am planning a trip back in the evening to compare…

Downingtown Farm

I found this awesome farm yesterday while driving the back roads of Downingtown. It just screamed Pano to me!
