Energized

Over the weekend, I taught a workshop for the Tamron Road Series 2009 at Unique Photo in Fairfield, NJ. I lectured Friday evening and then on Saturday we visited Parkside Orchids. Talk about orchid overload, this place had every type you could imagine. Unfortunately, I didn’t have an opportunity make any of my own images but I certainly came home energized! When the sun dipped low in the sky this evening, casting a nice even light on the garden I grabbed my camera to make a few images. I love the soft warm light and rhythm of the flowers.

Wheat Fields

For over a week now I’ve been driving past this field of wheat and every time I think, wow, there’s an image here! So I thought I would spend a little time working out a composition with hopes of getting a nice image! I worked all different compositions and processes and this one seemed to work best for me ;-)

Octoraro Creek Outing

Tuesday evening I took Bob Lott to one of my favorite spots on the Octoraro Creek. I’ve spent many hours in all different seasons documenting this scenic little creek that meanders through Chester and Lancaster counties. The light was not quite as I would have liked it, but all in all not too bad. Here are a couple of shots from the outing…

My Sanctuary

This week for my “Image of the Week”, I used a Lensbaby image of a red wagon. I also wanted to share this image of My Sanctuary. It’s my little get-away in the garden that I sit and read and just unwind. I have a pond with a waterfall that provides a soothing sound along with a Chiminea where I have fires. (Better than a TV)

Eastern State Penitentiary

This image is from our outing a few weeks ago to Eastern State Penitentiary. I prefer the B&W processed version of my images best since they exhibit a more depressing atmosphere. I've been sitting on them but thought I should get a few posted…

Daisy & Red

Every spring I have fun shooting Kelly's garden and this year was no exception. With this image I positioned myself so red flowers where behind my single daisy adding an extra element to the image.

Virginia Creeper

I made this image this morning while standing on my front porch. I love the color contrast. I processed this with Topaz Simplify to give it a softer feel…

Lancaster County Barn

I just love the rural scenes that Lancaster County has to offer. I came across this quaint barn while out scouting for locations to shoot one evening.

Cloud Study

I’m often asked if I ever just shoot the sky. Well, I must admit that I am a huge sky shooter. Whenever I see a great sky full of clouds I can’t get my camera fast enough.

Pastoral

Yesterday evening Kelly & I made a quick jump over to shoot some Amish farmlands. When I say quick, it’s about a 3 minute drive. There’s something to be said for living in a rural area :-)

Impressions of Light

I’ve been following William Neill’s work for quite some time and I have mixed feelings about his impressions of light stuff. Now don’t get me wrong I really like some of it but not all. So I thought I would expand my vision and try my hand at some impressionist work myself. This image is a 10 shot multiple exposures done in camera.
