Hello Everyone,
Shooting the streets of my home town always provides a challenge. It’s tough to get an empty street without parked cars or traffic. Here I wanted to capture the holiday lights so I made my way downtown about hour and a half before sunrise. If I waited till civil twilight (which I would have preferred) the traffic doubles and reduces my chances of shooting without streaks of car lights. I guess I’m going to do a repeat shoot on a Sunday morning when people sleep in

Hello Everyone,
Over the weekend I had the opportunity to shoot with Tony Sweet, Bob Lott, Greg McKean & Harry Sandler. Our first stop was at the Graffiti site in Philadelphia and then onto Eastern State Penitentiary for a private tour.
After reading Bob Lotts blog we made a very similar image. His was a nine frame HDR (which turned out great) and mine was a 3 frame manual HDR image. When I say manual, I shot one exposed for the foreground, one for the background and a final image exposed for the mid tones. I used Nik’s HDR Efex Pro for my processing!

Street shooting at night can be fun but it’s also difficult to capture the complete range of exposures. If you get the overall exposure right, all of the lights will be blown out. It’s an issue that I’ve yet to resolve <grin>. Here are a couple of fun shots that I wanted to share!

During the summer I was working on a project photographing the doors of Atglen. It’s a fun project and is always changing depending on the season and door decorations. Here's a triptych image of doors.

Here’s an image I made a few weeks ago on an outing with Michael Lawrence. We hit Starsburg Railroad at sunrise and slowly meandered back towards home on some of my favorite back roads. I used Nik's Silver Efex Pro for the B&W conversion and vintage effects.
