Backgrounds are Important

Hello Everyone,
I always tell my students that your background is just as important as your subject. By changing your angle of view (move up, down, left or right) you can create very pleasing backgrounds that truly compliment your subject!

As with all of my images I used Nik’s Software to process this image! If you are interested in saving yourself a few $$$ on any of Nik’s products feel free to use my discount code “EHEATON”.

Wolf’s Hollow

A few weeks ago I had a family portrait session and I picked Wolf's Hollow as the shoot location.  The shoot went extremely well. On my way out of Wolf's Hollow I noticed a fog bank rolling through the valley. Here are a couple images that I managed to pull off just after  sunset.

As with all of my images I used Nik’s Software to process this image! If you are interested in saving yourself a few $$$ on any of Nik’s products feel free to use my discount code “EHEATON”.

Pickin

The best part of the Fiddlers Picnic is the impromptu jam sessions that are held in the wooded area where I shot these.

Summer View - Glade Creek Grist Mill

I know I’m not posting enough when my friend Laurie Shupp say’s “I haven't seen you posting as much lately” and she’s right. Between workshops, private gigs and running the normal day to day business, my web presence have been very  scarce. Which means I’m not shooting as often as I was and have less images to share. Trust me it happens! Ask any professional shooter and they'll tell you that  the shooting part is a very small portion of running a photography business.

Thanks for checking in and stay tuned for many more images and notes from the field.

New River Gorge Bridge

Hello Everyone,
As many of you know I made a trip down to the New River Gorge area this past weekend.  It seems that I spent much of my weekend in the car running to different locations and finding just that special spot.  When you have an area as big as the New River Gorge, it's hard to be in the right spot at the right time in the right light all of the time, so I got several nice shots each day in different locations.  This shot of the train and New River Gorge bridge fit perfect as a nice black and white image.

As with all of my images I used Nik’s Software to process this image! If you are interested in saving yourself a few $$$ on any of Nik’s products feel free to use my discount code “EHEATON”.

Thanks for checking in and stay tuned for many more images and notes from the field.
